NMTA Minutes for Meeting at Las Vegas, NM January 23, 2010
Meeting called to order at 10:28 AM.
Secretary Report: Robert Major-Read minutes from meeting at Belen, NM.
Treasurer’s Report:
Jeannette Gallegos-passed out balance sheet
with updated information on our association’s account. Our current balance is
$11,034.59, which is higher than it has ever been at this time. Jeannette
mentioned
that she tried to get out of our Credit Card machine account because they were
charging us fees all year even though it is used for 1 weekend per year. We
discussed options to save money with this after this year’s show. A motion
was made and seconded to accept secretary report.
Vice President’s Report:
Frank Arredondo-Got the disco donated again this year for our raffle. The
axis deer hunt for 2 doe’s will be auctioned as one item. The hunt can also be
upgraded by the winner for an additional $1,000.00
to kill a buck instead of 2 does. We determined to start the auction bid at
$250.00. A motion was made and seconded to accept VP report.
Director’s Reports
Fernando Clemente
: Sent out an email for all members to send in tickets they were not going to sell. All tickets had been sent out, but some members still needed more to sell.Paul Gallegos: Contacted Josh Jensen to help with arranging our suppliers to come to this year’s show. Wanted to get vendors to donate and commit to attending our show as soon as possible.
Sam Chavez: Talked to Clay Brazil about our plaques this year. Clay agreed to do them at the same price as last year. Needs the plaques from Carl Chavez to update the tags on them in order to use them at the 2010 show. Needs to get the Challenge Winner’s plaque so we can keep it current. Sam stressed the importance to donate this year for our auctions. That is why our balance is so good this year, due to everybody contributing to last year’s show. Sam contacted Wayne Connell to be our auctioneer again this year, and we agreed it was well worth it to put him up for the night on the association’s tab ($69.00).
Josh Jensen: Not Present
Bryan Nygren: Resigned from his Director’s duties.
Member’s Spotlight Report: Anissa Gallegos contacted different members for information to do the member spotlight. Carl Chavez is making a back drop so each mount can be photographed by Anissa as it comes into the show.
Newsletter: Jim Rodgers- Not present, but needs information for newsletter.
President’s Report: Mike Garcia-contacted judges and confirmed that R.J. Simington was doing mammals, and Bill Bowen was doing birds and fish.
Old Business: Decided on skipping Entertainment this year due to lack of space.
Mike Garcia wanted to make a list of duties and a schedule for members who want to help out during the show. The more people who help, the better run our show will be.
New Business: Tried to finalize our list of seminars for the show. Mike stated that it would be complete by Friday, January 29 so it could go out in the newsletter by Monday.
Picked 2 entrée’s for the menu: Roasted Chicken, and brisket.
A question was brought up by an out of state member whether or not they could tear down Saturday night after the banquet. We decided that we would only let out of state attendee’s take down their mounts early due to the distances they have to travel.
Lee Gallegos and Rose Armijo said that they would help put together the show packets again for this year’s show.
Needed a member list updated on the website.
Rooms at the Plaza Hotel need to be reserved 3 weeks prior to show. The rooms are $69-79 per night.
Registration form needed to be changed to give show attendee’s a $15.00 discount on the show registration fee. It will be $35.00 instead of $50.00 as a gift to those who attend.
Lee Gallegos motioned to adjourn meeting, Roy Cogburn seconded the motion, and we adjourned the meeting 12:42 PM.
Respectfully Submitted by:

of you had success in your hunts and that everyone had an enjoyable time.
I am excited to see all of our existing members as well as our newest inductees
of our organization

silent auction as it is a beneficial aspect of our yearly convention. Have
a safe trip and see you in March!
FERNANDO CLEMENTE: DIRECTOR NMTA
I hope that everyone is doing well and getting ready for the show! If you
are unable to sell your raffle tickets, please e-mail me at:
clementetaxidermy@yahoo.com so
I can let you know who you can send them to.
As of right now, I do not have any more tickets to distribute, but if you need
more I will put your name on the list of people to send them to once I get some
back.
LEE GALLEGOS
Reminder that part of our Convention fun is the forms auction and the Silent &
Live Auctions held at the banquet. Please remember to bring any spare
forms, taxidermy related items, kids items, etc. to donate to our auctions.
Everyone's help is needed for our fundraising efforts.
A LITTLE HUMOR; WHO SAYS LEE GALLEGOS DOESN'T HAVE A
SENSE OF HUMOR
Where's Bubba?
A group of friends went deer hunting and paired off in two for the day.
That night, one of the hunters returned to camp all alone, staggering under the
weight of a ten-point buck.
"Where's Bubba?"
"Bubba had a nasty fall and broke both of his legs. He is a couple miles
back up the canyon."
"You left Bubba lying out there and carried your deer back instead?"
"Well, I figured no one was going to steal Bubba!"
Two lawyers went out hunting for the first time when they came upon a couple
tracks. After close examination, the first lawyer declared them to be deer
tracks. The second lawyer disagreed,
insisting they were too big to be deer so they must be elk tracks! They
were still arguing when the train hit them.
